Overview
Use this article to update a live listing's title, description, item specifics, or category. Come back here any time you need to change something about a listing that's already been published.
Before you start
You'll need an item that's already been assigned a Merchandising Strategy and published, so it's live on a marketplace. A Merchandising Strategy is the strategy and steps Listing Monster runs for an item over time once it's published.
Editing a listing's title, description, item specifics, or category happens on its eBay tab. Ending its Merchandising Strategy and delisting it happens on its Merchandising Strategy tab.
Open the item you want to manage.
Click into its eBay tab, or its Merchandising Strategy tab, depending on what you want to do.
Edit the listing's title, description, item specifics, or category
You can update a live listing's Item Title, Item Description, item specifics like Colour or Brand, and even its category, all from the item's eBay tab. Some edits are as simple as typing a change and clicking Save, while others — like an item specific that also needs to show up in the title and description, or moving the item into a new category — need Listing Monster to re-scan the listing so everything stays consistent.
Find the item and open its eBay tab
In your Items table, find the item you want to edit.
Click into the item.
Click the eBay tab.
Make a simple edit
Use this for a straightforward change to the Item Title, Item Condition, or an item specific like Brand or Colour that doesn't need to be reflected anywhere else in the listing.
On the eBay tab, click into the field you want to change.
Make your edit.
Click Save.
Push your changes live
Saving an edit, or approving a re-scanned listing, updates the listing in Listing Monster — it doesn't push the change to your marketplace on its own. Use Re-run Current Steps to send it out while keeping the same Merchandising Strategy running.
Click into the item's Merchandising Strategy tab.
Click the ⋮ (three dots) icon in the top right.
Click Re-run Current Steps.
This is the step that actually sends your change to your marketplace — anything you edit, save, or rescan on the eBay tab stays in Listing Monster until you re-run the current steps.
Make an edit that needs to be reflected across the whole listing
Some edits — like changing the Colour item specific — need to show up consistently in the Item Title, Item Description, and other item specifics, not just in the one field you changed.
Make your edit as normal (for example, update Colour).
Instead of Save, click Rescan with amendments.
Listing Monster re-scans the listing and updates the Item Title, Item Description, and item specifics to reflect your change.
Review the updated listing, then click Approve if you're happy with it.

Change the listing's category
You can't edit an item's category directly — changing it means running a full re-scan of the listing.
Click the ⋮ (three dots) menu at the top of the eBay tab, next to the status badge.
Click Rescan listing.
In the "Are you sure you want to re-scan this item?" window that opens, update the category using the dropdown at the top. You can click Cancel here instead if you want to back out without re-scanning.
Click Save to confirm.
Listing Monster re-scans the whole item against its new category — this can also update the Item Title and Item Condition to match, not just the category. Review the result, then click Approve if you're happy with it.

Expected result
✅ Your live listing now reflects the change you made — an updated title, description, item specific, or category pushed out to your marketplace. You can come back to the eBay or Merchandising Strategy tab at any time to make further changes.
💡 Tips and best practice
Re-run Current Steps is the one you'll use most often — reach for it any time you've edited the listing's title, description, or item specifics and want that reflected on your marketplace.
If an edit needs to show up in more than one place — like changing Colour, which should also update the title and description — use Rescan with amendments instead of Save.
There's no direct field for category — to move an item into a new category, use Rescan listing from the ⋮ menu. This can also update the title and item condition, so review the result before you approve it.
Double-check your changes before confirming any of these actions — most push straight to your marketplace, or straight into a re-scan, with no separate confirmation step afterwards.
⚠️ Troubleshooting / FAQs
I clicked Re-run Current Steps but my change still hasn't gone live
Re-assign the strategy instead. This usually means the item failed at an earlier stage of its Merchandising Strategy, and Re-run Current Steps alone won't push past that — use Re-assign Strategy from the ⋮ menu on the Merchandising Strategy tab.
Why does my item show "Export failed" after I made a change?
Export failed means Listing Monster tried to push your change out to the marketplace, and the export didn't go through. See Fix eBay export failed errors for the most common causes and how to fix them.
Can I delete a live listing instead of ending its strategy?
No — Listing Monster won't let you delete an item while it's live. End its Merchandising Strategy first (see End the listing's strategy and delist it above), then you'll be able to delete it from your Items table.
