🎥 Prefer to watch? Complete workflow for editing a live listing
Overview
Use this article whenever you need to make changes to a listing that’s already live on a marketplace. You’ll learn how to update the price or Merchandising Strategy, push listing edits to your marketplace, move an item to a different strategy, or delist it altogether. Come back to this guide whenever you need to update or manage a listing after it’s been published.
What you'll do:
Edit the price or steps of your Merchandising Strategy
Push listing edits live
Start again with a different Merchandising Strategy
End the listing's strategy
Before you start
You'll need an item that's already been assigned a Merchandising Strategy and published, so it's live on a marketplace. A Merchandising Strategy is the strategy and steps Listing Monster runs for an item over time once it's published.
All of the options below live on the same place: your item's Merchandising Strategy tab.
Change the price
You can edit the price of any step in your item's Merchandising Strategy directly from the Merchandising Strategy tab. This works whether your strategy has just one step or several.
Click Edit next to your marketplace (for example, eBay).
In the strategy box that opens, update the price field for the step you want to change.
Click Save.
Your change is pushed out to your marketplace automatically as soon as you click Save — you don't need to do anything else to make it live.
Add, remove, or edit steps in your Merchandising Strategy
You can also use the same Edit box to change the steps themselves — not just their price. There's no limit to how many steps you can add or remove in one edit.
Click Edit next to your marketplace (for example, eBay).
In the strategy box that opens:
Click Add Step to add a new step.
Click the 🗑 (bin) icon next to a step to remove it.
Update a step's format or duration as needed.
Click Save.
Your changes are pushed out to your marketplace automatically as soon as you click Save — you don't need to do anything else to make it live.
Push listing edits live
If you edit something about the listing itself — its title, description, photos, or other details — outside the Merchandising Strategy tab, that change won't reach your marketplace on its own. Use Re-run Current Steps to push it out while keeping the same Merchandising Strategy running.
Click the ⋮ (three dots) icon in the top right of the Merchandising Strategy tab.
Click Re-run Current Steps.
This is the option you'll use most often, since it covers any general change to the listing without touching your Merchandising Strategy itself.
Start again with a different strategy
Use Re-assign Strategy instead of Edit when you want a different Merchandising Strategy. Doing this ends your item's current Merchandising Strategy and starts a new one in its place.
Click the ⋮ (three dots) icon in the top right of the Merchandising Strategy tab.
Click Re-assign Strategy.
In the Reassign Strategy Steps box, choose a strategy from the dropdown — pick one of your premade strategies, or leave it set to Custom to build your own.
Click Select.
Adjust the steps and price as needed.
Click Save.
Your new strategy starts straight away and is pushed out to your marketplace automatically — you don't need any further steps to make it live.
End the listing's strategy
Use the red End button when you want to take the item off its marketplace before its Merchandising Strategy has finished running.
This delists the item from its marketplace, ends its current Merchandising Strategy, and stops any remaining scheduled steps in their tracks.
Expected result
✅ Your live listing now reflects the change you made — an edited price or step, other listing details pushed out to your marketplace, a new Merchandising Strategy running, or the item delisted altogether. You can come back to the Merchandising Strategy tab at any time to make further changes.
💡 Tips and best practice
Re-run Current Steps is the one you'll use most often — reach for it any time you've edited the listing itself (like its photos or description) and want that reflected on the marketplace without changing your strategy.
Use Edit when you just want to tweak a price or step within your current strategy — it saves and pushes live in one go.
Use Re-assign Strategy when you want a different starting price or a completely different strategy — it ends what's currently running and starts fresh.
Double-check your changes before clicking Save on any of these — each one pushes straight to your marketplace, with no separate confirmation step afterwards.
After making a change, check the listing on your marketplace to confirm it's come through.
⚠️ Troubleshooting / FAQs
I clicked Re-run Current Steps but my change still hasn't gone live
Re-assign the strategy instead. This usually means the item failed at an earlier stage of its Merchandising Strategy, and Re-run Current Steps alone won't push past that — use Re-assign Strategy from the ⋮ menu on the Merchandising Strategy tab.
Why does my item show "Export failed" after I made a change?
Export failed means Listing Monster tried to push your change out to the marketplace, and the export didn't go through. See Fix eBay export failed errors for the most common causes and how to fix them.
Can I delete a live listing instead of ending its strategy?
No — Listing Monster won't let you delete an item while it's live. End its Merchandising Strategy first (see End the listing's strategy and delist it above), then you'll be able to delete it from your Items table.
