Overview
Use this article to relist an item that didn't sell, by finding it in your Items table and assigning it a new Merchandising Strategy. You'll need this whenever one of your listings reaches the end of its Merchandising Strategy without selling, and you want to put it back on sale.
Find your unsold items
Listing Monster marks any item whose listing period ended without selling as Unsold, so you can filter your Items table down to just those items before relisting them.
Go to your Items table.
Click Filters in the top right.
Under Status, search for or select unsold in the Values box.
Click Apply.
Your Items table now shows only items with the Unsold status. Click into the item you want to relist to open it.
Assign a new strategy to relist
A Merchandising Strategy is the set of listing steps â for example, moving from an auction to a fixed Buy It Now price over time â that Listing Monster runs automatically for an item on its marketplace. To relist an unsold item, you assign it a new Merchandising Strategy, which starts the item back on sale.
Before you start, you can update the item's title, description, photos, or price from its Item Details tab if anything needs changing, or just relist it exactly as it was.
Open the item's Merchandising Strategy tab.
Click the âź (three dots) icon in the top right of the tab.
Click Re-assign Strategy.
In the Reassign Strategy Steps box, choose a strategy template from the dropdown - for example, Default Strategy 1.
Enter your Start Price â the price you want the listing to start at.
Click Select.
Review the strategy's steps.
Click Save.
Expected result
â Your item now has a new Merchandising Strategy running. Depending on how you set up its steps, the item's status changes to either Active â if the first step is set to start straight away â or Scheduled, if it's set to start at a future date and time. You can come back to the Merchandising Strategy tab at any time to check on it or make further changes.
đĄ Tips and best practice
Save a filtered view of your Unsold items (from the Items dropdown menu) so you can come back and review them in one place, without rebuilding the filter each time.
If an item didn't sell because of its price or photos, update those on the Item Details tab before you relist it, rather than relisting it exactly as it was.
The timing on the first step decides whether your item goes live straight away or is scheduled for later â check this before clicking Save if timing matters to you.
After relisting, check the item on its marketplace to confirm the new listing has come through.
â ïž Troubleshooting / FAQs
Why does my item show "Export failed" after I relist it?
Export failed means Listing Monster tried to push your new strategy out to the marketplace, and the export didn't go through. See Fix eBay export failed errors for the most common causes and how to fix them. Can I relist an item that shows "Ended" instead of "Unsold"?
Yes. Both Unsold and Ended mean the listing didn't result in a sale, so you can relist either one the same way by assigning it a new Merchandising Strategy. If you're looking for Ended items rather than Unsold ones, filter your Items table by Status: ended instead.
Do I need to update anything before I relist an item?
No â updating the item first is optional. You can change its title, description, photos, or price on the Item Details tab if anything needs it, or go straight to Re-assign Strategy and relist it exactly as it was.
What happens to my item's original strategy when I relist it?
Assigning a new Merchandising Strategy ends the item's previous strategy completely and starts the new one you've set up in its place. Its previous steps stop running as soon as you click Save.
Can I delete an unsold item instead of relisting it?
Yes. Unlike a live item, an unsold item doesn't need its strategy ended first â tick it in your Items table and click Delete in the bottom right. Treat deleting as a last resort though, since it's better to keep as much product data as possible.
