Overview

Use this article to create a new listing in the Listing Monster app on your phone or tablet — from adding your item's photos through to submitting it for review by your team (quality control, or QC). Use it whenever you're adding stock on the go, away from your desktop.

What you'll do:

  1. Download the app and log in

  2. Add your item's photos

  3. Set your marketplace and category

  4. Add your item's further details

  5. Create your listing

Before you start

You'll need a Listing Monster account that's already set up, with at least one marketplace connected — this example uses eBay. See Set up your Listing Monster account if you haven't done this yet.

Download the app and log in

Getting started with Listing Monster on your phone or tablet begins with downloading the app and signing in.

  1. Search for Listing Monster in the App Store (iPhone and iPad) or the Google Play Store (Android), then download the app.

  2. Open the app and log in using your Listing Monster login details.

  3. You'll land on the Home page.

  4. Tap Create Listing to start a new listing.

Tapping Create Listing opens the add-item form, starting with your item's photos.

Add your item's photos

Adding photos is the first thing you'll do on the add-item form, and it's a required field — you can't create a listing without at least one photo.

  1. Tap Camera to take photos directly in the app, using your device's own camera.

  2. Or tap Gallery to upload photos you've already taken.

  3. Each photo you add appears as a numbered thumbnail on the form.

Set your marketplace and category

Setting your marketplace tells Listing Monster where to publish this item, and this is also a required field. If your marketplace needs a category — eBay does — you'll set that here too.

  1. Under Marketplaces, toggle on each marketplace you want to list this item to — for example, eBay, Shopify, or Depop.

  2. For a marketplace that needs a category, such as eBay, tap its Search for category field.

  3. Search for the category that matches your item.

  4. Select the matching category from the results. The full category path appears in the field — for example, Root > Health & Beauty > Natural & Alternative Remedies > Aromatherapy.

  5. To change the category later, tap the field again, search, and select a different one.

Add your item's further details

Under Further Details, you'll see any custom item fields your business has set up in its Listing Monster account. These are mirrored from your account settings, so what you see here may differ from this example.

  1. Fill in each custom field with the relevant information for this item — for example, if your account has a Shop field, select the shop or location the item came from, such as Shop B.

  2. In the Further Details text box, add any extra information you have about the item.

  3. If you know the item's measurements, add them in the same box, under Height and Width. Measurements are optional.

Create your listing

Once you've added everything for this item, you're ready to submit it.

  1. Tap Create Listing at the bottom of the screen.

  2. You're returned to the Home page, ready to start your next listing.

Expected result

✅ Your item is created as a new listing in Listing Monster, ready for review by your team (QC) before it goes live. You're returned to the Home page straight away, so you can start adding your next item without any delay.

💡 Tips and best practice

  • Take your photos using the in-app Camera rather than uploading from your Gallery — it saves you a step, since you don't need to take photos separately first.

  • List in batches: once you tap Create Listing, you're straight back on the Home page — go ahead and start the process again for your next item rather than stopping after one.

  • Since your custom item fields are mirrored from your Listing Monster account, keep field names consistent across your team so everyone knows what to fill in.

  • Only add measurements if you have them to hand — it's an optional field, so don't let it hold up your listing.

  • Double-check your marketplace category before you tap Create Listing — getting it right first time means fewer changes needed later.

  • Once you've listed a batch of items, move to your desktop to QC and publish them, or carry on with the QC and publish steps in the app.

Review & Publish

🎥 Watch the walkthrough (2 mins)

Overview

Use this article to review an item that's waiting for quality control (QC), set its price and merchandising strategy, and approve it so Listing Monster can publish it to your marketplace. Use this whenever an item in your Listings tab shows a QC status and is ready to go live.

What you'll do:

  1. Find items ready for review

  2. Review the item's details

  3. Set the price and merchandising strategy

  4. Approve and publish the item

Before you start

You'll need at least one item already added in Listing Monster and sitting in QC status, with a marketplace connected to publish it to — this example uses eBay. See Create a listing in the app if you haven't added an item yet, or Set up your Listing Monster account if you haven't connected a marketplace.

Find items ready for review

Every item you've added sits in your Listings tab, and its status tells you where it is in the listing process.

  1. Open the Listings tab in the Listing Monster app.

  2. Look for a yellow QC badge next to an item — this means the item still needs to be checked and approved before it goes live.

  3. Tap the item to open it.

Opening an item takes you to its details, starting with its images.

Review the item's details

Once you're in an item, you'll see everything QC needs to check before it's ready to go live.

  1. Under Images, look through each photo and make sure you're happy with them.

  2. Check the Item Title is correct.

  3. Check the Item Condition is correct.

  4. Check the Item Description is correct.

  5. Check the item's REQUIRED, RECOMMENDED, and OPTIONAL attributes under its marketplace — these are the item specifics, the individual details your marketplace uses to describe the item, such as brand, colour, and material.

  6. Fill in your account fields — the Item Fields section (Shop, Gift Aid, etc.), kept distinct since these are personal to the business's account setup, not the item's own content.

Set the price and merchandising strategy

A merchandising strategy sets the price your item lists at, and you'll need one assigned before you can approve the item.

  1. In the Merchandising Strategy section, click Assign.

  2. Choose a merchandising strategy that's already preset in your account, or create a custom one.

  3. Enter your price.

  4. Once you're happy with your strategy and price, click Save.

Approve and publish the item

Approving is the last step — it's what tells Listing Monster the item is ready to go live.

  1. Click Approve.

  2. A green confirmation message appears.

  3. Depending on the merchandising strategy you assigned, the item is either sent live straight away or scheduled to go live at a future date and time.

  4. The item's status changes to Active, and you'll see it in your Listings tab.

Expected result

✅ Your item has passed QC and is approved. Depending on its merchandising strategy, it's either live on your marketplace already or scheduled to go live at a future date and time, and you'll see it marked Active in your Listings tab once it's published.

💡 Tips and best practice

  • Check your images, title, and description carefully before approving — it's far quicker to fix a mistake now than once the item is live on your marketplace.

  • Use a preset merchandising strategy for items you list regularly, so you're not building one from scratch every time.

  • Work through your QC items one at a time rather than leaving them to build up — the sooner you approve a ready item, the sooner it can go live or be scheduled.

  • If you're not sure an item is ready, don't approve it — go back and check the details rather than guessing.

⚠️ Troubleshooting / FAQs

Can I edit my images?

You can reorder or delete images directly in the app, but the app doesn't include a full photo editing suite. If you want to edit a photo — for example, to crop or retouch it — it's best to complete the add-item form as normal, then switch to your desktop to QC the listing and use photo editing there.

Can I use the app and desktop together?

Yes, you can use both. Use the app to complete the add-item form when you're adding stock on the go, then switch to your desktop to QC your listings — it's a good option if you prefer a bigger screen for that step.

Will my item fields appear on the app?

Yes, all item fields you've created in your Listing Monster account are mirrored on the app, under Further Details on the add-item form.
