Congratulations on getting started with Listing Monster!

Here is your one-stop guide on how to get going successfully.

There are 3 key processes involved:

1: List

The listing process involves 2 simple steps:

  • Take photos

  • Upload to Listing Monster via the 'Add Item' form

Preparation

Before starting a listing session, you should have:

  • A good internet connection - either WIFI or 4G/5G mobile data

  • Phone or tablet(*) with two windows open:

    • Camera app

    • Listing Monster (log in at app.listingmonster.ai)

  • A big batch of items to photograph/list

*Note: If you would like to use a camera - we would recommend taking photos of ALL the items you want to list in one go - and then batch transferring the photo files to a laptop/desktop and then uploading to Listing Monster from there.

Listing steps

  1. Take photos of your first item with your phone/tablet camera app. The photos will go into your device photo library.

    1. Note: if photographing written info (e.g labels, hallmarks etc), please make sure the photo is rotated correctly and is legible without zooming in. Similarly to a human, this will allow the AI to analyse better!

  2. Switch window into Listing Monster

  3. Go to "Add Item" and complete each step of the form:

    1. Add your photos: Select 'Photo Library' > multiple select all the photos you want in one go > click upload.

    2. Check the auto suggested category: Scroll down to "Merchandising Strategy" and check the category the AI has auto suggested to you for each marketplace based on the photos (If you want to change the category, you click the category box and manually search for the category you want)

    3. Check your ebay preferences: check you are happy with your default selections for listing type, duration, schedule time, postage policy etc and change if needed

    4. Enter SKU values

    5. Enter measurements (if needed): do this by completing the placeholders you want to use e.g "Width = 30cm". You can ignore any placeholders you don't need.

    6. Click "Save & New": this will being up a fresh version of the Add Item form, where you can immediately upload your second item

  4. Repeat steps 1-3 for a big batch of items! The AI will be busy drafting your listings in the background while you do this.

After you have uploaded a big batch of items, its time to put the phone/tablet down and head to a desktop/laptop with a larger screen to review your drafts!

2: Review

The review process involves:

  • Check draft listings

  • Edit (if needed)

  • Approve

Preparation

  1. Use a desktop/laptop with a larger screen to review listings - its easier on the eyes!

  2. Log in to your Listing Monster account at app.listingmonster.ai

  3. You will see a table of all the products you have just photographed/uploaded. A table column called "Status" will be yellow and say "qc" (i.e ready to quality check) indicating your drafts are ready to review.

  4. Click "Preview" mode at the top right of the items table. This mode gives you a different view of your listings - allowing you to work through reviewing larger batches of items more quickly

  5. Click on your first item to review

Check Photos

Your draft listings include the photos you uploaded on the Add Item page.

Depending on your AI settings, the AI will automatically touch-up images (background remove, resize, centre) for you by default.

Our goal is to get the AI to do as much heavy lifting as possible - so hopefully you rarely (if ever) need to do manual photo edits (talk to us if you are!).

Photo Editing Process

However, on the odd occasion you might need to do manual edits! You can do the following:

  • Image re-ordering: You can re-order images by clicking-and-holding the 3-dots above the image and then dragging and re-ordering the photo to a new position.

  • Delete images: Click-and-hold the 3-dots above the image and drag the photo into the red bin that appears.

  • Add images: Click the final tile (with the image of the square and upward arrow), this will allow you to add additional images to listing.

  • Photo editing tools: Click the pencil icon at the top right corner of the main image. This will bring you to the photo editing suite where you can:

    • Switch background removal on/off

    • Crop

    • Fine-tune (brightness, contrast, saturation, exposure, temperature)

    • Annotate

    • Resize

    • After you have made your edits, remember to click the SAVE button in the top right hand corner. You can then navigate back to the Item Page by click-ing the "X" button in the top left.

Check Listing Information

Your AI lister will automatically generate detailed draft product information based on:

  • Analyzing ALL your photos

  • Training on Google/eBay search engine optimisation best practice

  • Training it has been given on your personal style preferences

As you use the AI and provide us with feedback, we will retrain and tailor your AI's behaviour so it gives you what you want! This tailoring process should reduce the amount of edits you need to make over time, so reviewing becomes a quicker and quicker process.

Listing editing process

Now and again, you will find yourself wanting to make edits or add information to your draft before approving. How do you do do that?

  1. Make your edit - click into any field (e.g Title) and just start typing to edit what you want!

  2. Click Save - you will see the name of the field you edited go green to indicate a change has been made.

  3. OPTIONAL 'Apply Amendments' to update the rest of the listing - If for example, you edit colour in the title, but also want to update colour in the description and item specifics too. Then you can use the 'Apply Amendments' button to get the AI to help you with the editing. This will send the listing back to the AI and ask it to make the rest of the listing consistent with the edit you have just made.

Check Pricing

There are two main approaches to pricing:

A) Auction with a low set starting price (i.e no research needed)

B) Research start prices

If you are taking the 'option A' route, then you can skip this section!

If you are looking to research start prices, then your process looks like this:

  1. Research your price using one of our two pricing tools

    1. Item Research Tab

    2. Auto Pricing Tool

  2. Update your price via the 'Inputs' tab (remember to click save after!)

Pricing tools

Item Research Tab

  • Allows to perform a search of comparable items across a) Google; b) eBay Previously Sold Items ; c) eBay Live Listings

  • This enables you to perform price research like you are used to (i.e looking through pages of search results on similar items) - but you can get it all in one place to save time.

Auto Pricing Report

  • We have trained a separate AI to mimic the price research process of a human (ie scan through similar items on ebay for you).

  • The AI's automated suggestions are visible above your photos

  • You check the AI's justification for its suggestions by clicking "View Full Report".

Approve

When you are happy with your photos, listing information and price, you can click "Approve".

The Status of the item will update to go green, and the item is now ready to be exported to your chosen selling platform.

3: Export

The exporting steps (via Integration) are as follows:

  1. Click "Publish" (the publish button will only appear for 'approved' items)

2. Check if export was successful

If export was successful, the status will update to purple and say "exported". The publish box will also say 'Active' or 'Scheduled'.

If the export was not successful, the status will update to red and say "export failed". An ❌ icon will also be visible. If you click the 'X', you will shown a message as to 'why' the export had failed (e.g a 'required' item specific was left blank).

By correcting the reason for failure (e.g by filling in the missing item specific) and clicking 'save' and then clicking 'publish' again, the export should go through successfully.

Note: if you wish to 'Unpublish' a listing after it has been exported. You can click the "3-dot" menu icon and click "Withdraw".
