This section will help you register an account with Listing Monster, and enable you to log in so you can start listing items.
The registration process is very simple:
1. You’ll respond to an invite to join your organisation’s Listing Monster account.
2. You’ll create your own user account within Listing Monster.
3. You’ll be logged in with your new account.
You’ll then be able to log in to your account again in future using the mechanism and credentials you’ve set up.
Let’s go through the process in more detail.
Responding to an Invite to Join Listing Monster
You will receive an invitation from your organisation in your email account, which will look something like this:
The invitation:
Will be sent to the email account you normally use within your organisation. It should not, in general, be sent to a personal email account.
Should be addressed to you by name: generally it will use your first name, but it may use your first and last names. If your name isn’t used at all you should contact your IT team to ensure the email is legitimate
Will mention the person who sent you the invite from within your organisation. In the example above it mentions someone called Bart. If you don’t recognise this person’s name you should contact your IT team to ensure the email is legitimate
Should be sent to you from [email protected]. If the email comes from a different address you should, again, contact your IT team because, in this case, it definitely won’t be legitimate
If you suspect the invitation isn’t legitimate it’s important that you contact your IT team to verify whether or not it’s legitimate because responding to an illegitimate invite could expose your organisation to risk of hacking or data breach with potentially severe repurcussions and legal penalties.
If all is otherwise well with the invitation, you’ll see it contains a link that says Click here to sign up for Listing Monster now.
Click that link and you’ll be taken to a page in your web browser where you can register your Listing Monster account.
Registering your Listing Monster Account
When you click the link in the email invitation your web browser will open up a page for you at https://app.listingmonster.ai/auth/signup.
There may be some additional information at the end of this web address (also known as a URL), but this is what the beginning of the address will look like. Make sure that the address contains app.listingmonster.ai near the beginning and that you can see a padlock icon, which indicates that your connection to the Listing Monster website is secure.
If you don’t see either of these things please contact your IT team.
What you’ll see on this page depends on how your organisation has set up their Listing Monster account in terms of how they’d like you to log in:
You might see a button you can click to register using your Microsoft or Google account like one of these:
Note that you’ll usually see either none of these buttons or one of them, but not both.
You might see some form fields where you can enter your email address, name, and a password that you’ll use to log in, along with a button to create your account:
Less commonly you might see both the option to sign up with your username, name, and password as well as the option to log in using Microsoft or Google. In this case we recommend you sign up using the Microsoft or Google account your organisation has given you. In any event please follow the recommendation of your IT team
If you’ve landed on the sign-in page as a result of visiting https://app.listingmonster.ai and clicking the Sign up here link on that page, you’ll see all options. For this reason it’s better to respond by clicking the link in your invite so you only see the options that are relevant for your organisation.
Registering Your Account Using Microsoft or Google
If your organisation has given you the option of registering your account using Microsoft or Google this is the route we’d recommend you use to register. The account you use should be your organisational account, not a personal account.
We recommend you register this way because, if your organisation has made the option available, it probably means your they’re in the process of migrating all Listing Monster users to use either Microsoft or Google accounts (but never both). This means that sooner or later you’ll have to register using one of these providers anyway. If you register using the relevant provider now you won’t have to do anything to link your account to them later on.
To register your account using Microsoft or Google:
Click whichever of the following buttons matches the login service your organisation uses:
Go through the login process, with Microsoft or Google, that you use to access other services, like email, in your company.
If you’re already signed in to other services you may not need to take any action: the page will simply redirect briefly through your login provider and then come back to Listing Monster (we’ll get to what this looks like in a minute).
If you do need to log in typically you’ll need to enter your username and password, and you may need to enter a multi-factor authentication code (e.g., from a code sent to your phone via SMS, email, or using an authenticator app).
You may also need to grant permission to the Listing Monster app to allow login via your Microsoft or Google account.
The exact steps you need to go through will depend both on the provider you’re using, and how your organisation’s IT team has configured login to work with that provider.
Once you’ve successfully registered your account you will be logged in and redirected back to the Listing Monster items page, which we’ll talk about in a later section.
Registering Your Account Using Your Email Address, Name, and Password
To register your account using your email address, name, and password:
Make sure you can see the following form on the Listing Monster sign-up page:
Enter your organisational email address in the Email field.
DO ensure you’ve entered your email address correctly because your registration will fail if you don’t.
Do NOT use a personal email account for this.
Enter your name in the What shall we call you? field. You can enter your first name, or first and last names.
If your organisation has a large number of employees and/or volunteers we recommend you use both your first and last name because it will make it easier for your IT team, or Listing Monster support, to help you with any issues you might have with your account in future should you run into problems.
Choose and enter the password you’d like to use to access Listing Monster in the Password field.
We recommend your password should contain a mixture of letters, numbers, and symbols, and is a minimum of 12 characters long. You should also ensure that your chosen password complies with any policy your organisation’s IT team has that relates to passwords.
Please do NOT use a password that you use to access other services.
Click the Create Account button.
Your Listing Monster account will be created and you will shortly find yourself on your organisation’s Items page. Again, see below for details.
